Keynotes

  • Sébastien Dubois (ENGIE Laborelec) presenting the company’s pioneering experiences on retrofitting coal power plants to woody biomass and their proprietary Quick Scan methodology.
  • Emiel van Dorp (RWE) discussing the use of biomass in the Amer 9 and Eemshaven power plants.
  • Ross McKenzie (Drax Group) explaining the role large-scale biomass power generation can play towards the goal of net zero carbon emissions, based on the experiences of the world’s largest industrial biomass consumer.
  • Rune Brusletto (Arbaflame) presenting the experiences of substituting coal with Arbacore advanced wood pellets in full scale trials, in the commercial conversion of Thunder Bay Unit 3 and in the ongoing Horizon 2020 ARBAHEAT.

Panel discussion
A panel discussion with the key note speakers and other invited experts will discuss technological developments, drivers and barriers for conversion projects of coal power plants to biomass. Special emphasis will be played on the role such conversion projects can play in the strategies of Coal Regions in Transition. More information on the panel speakers will be provided.
